Bogomir Doringer
Bogomir Doringer is making beautiful clothes, the kind I would love to wear, and not just for a season, these would stand through time...

Bonspiel
Of course, I've found Bonspiel on Etsy, where else? But seriously, if you will buy things this season, as we all will, go with independent! I love all the goodies from Bonspiel, keyrings, changepurses, wallets , not to mention perfect little clutch purses, all in such awesome color combos. The label comes from Victoria, BC, a very cool place where I visited a few years back and just fell in love with.

Garden
It's one of those wonderful mornings that somehow last longer and take over the day, warm and sun washed, lazy, bright and clear... The fall should be here, but it's still feels much like summer. I took some pictures in the garden, flowers and steel... sculptures done by Greg, slowly taking over the yard. As soon as his website is up, I'll post a link, so you can see more of his work.
Oh, and the giant caterpillar was caught munching on our banana plant. I wonder what he will turn into?

It's Getting Cold
The first wave of fresh chill in the air and I'm thinking hats... A right hat is a must, just like a proper pair of shoes, gloves, a scarf, if you're going for that 'complete' look. And if you want to make a statement, HelenHats is just the store. These do not only cover your ears but they are handmade from all recycled materials, each one is different, and there's plenty of attitude to go around. HelenHats also makes awesome hoodies, so instead of buying a few generic, mass produced ones, this winter invest in one that will give you some mileage as well as keep you warm, all while supporting an independent designer.

It's Never Too Early...
to shop for Halloween shoes, but these are not just any ballet flats, they are hand painted by Miss Bunny of London. And yes, art should be worn at all times possible, even if it's on your shoes, even if it's razor blades and... well, you have to admit these are pretty awfully smart, and of course I want them!

Mina Perhonen
Another intriguing Scandinavian label, Mina Perhonen comes from Finland, and to my surprise it's a design collective rather than a single designer studio. 'Mina' means 'I' and 'Perhonen' stands for butterfly. Their site says: "minä perhonen is a fashion brand working to produce clothes which do not lose their allure through lapse of time." And I believe this is true for all the clothes done right, without regard for "instant fashion." Not only beautiful clothes, Mina Perhonen does fabric and furniture as well.

Seed Clothing
Seed Clothing is a one woman operation based in LA, featuring some of the most beautiful, wittiest dress cuts I have seen in a while. It's always so great to see a young label with such a grown up attitude and a very defined look.
Annhagen
Annhagen rocks! If I had to choose a few things I'd like to own from this young Danish label I would be in serious trouble, since I really want it all. The only bad thing, Annhagen still does not sell in US, unless you are traveling to UK, Austria, or Japan. To view their latest collection follow the link at Annhagen, or browse through Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Lara Torres
I've came across Lara Torres browsing through yet another fashion week site, this time Lisbon Fashion Week. Her style is so her own, yet simple and pure. Love it! And, I hope I get to the same place within my own work, where it's very simple yet loud and clear.

Belgrade Fashion Week
...and why I want to be there! Well, after browsing through images from London, New York, Milan Fashion Week... , you get the picture, I had to know what the young Balkan was showing. I used to live in Belgrade, now a capital of Serbia, former capital of former Yugoslavia, and I still love the city. You could catch a show, see a band, almost every night of the week. Besides that, it's a beautiful place to live, even more so if you're an artist.
But back to fashion, Belgrade's got it! I especially loved the work of FPU students from Belgrade and ENSAD students from Paris, very brave, beautiful, and liberating. Belgrade Fashion Week happens two times a year, once in fall, once in spring, and features local as well as international designers, and emerging talent.

Brave New Clothes
To be brave in fashion is not rare, to be brave and live to talk about it is something else. Last night, while browsing through Sao Paulo Fashion Week pages, I have discovered Ronaldo Fraga , and fell in love instantly. I imagine I would turn into Alice wearing his clothes, it's certainly the same kind of feeling looking through his witty web pages, the Wonderland.
