Avery Winslow

Everyone knows the feeling of your little heart skipping when you discover just the right pair, in this case a pair of earrings I've got from Avery Winslow on Etsy just the other day (third picture from the top). I love these earrings, and they are my perfect pair already, seemingly raw and industrial, yet so very elegant, and light weight, just perfect for my hair length too. Can't say enough good things, just a big thank you to Catherine Hodge, a very talented designer/artist of Avery Winslow!

Friday Favorites on Mixed Plate

Liana from Mixed Plate was so sweet to feature my DA DA Tie in Pink and Red yesterday. I usually start my morning off by having a light breakfast, watch my news (very important!), check my Etsy store, and go to work. This morning however, I've got lost browsing through Mixed Plate only to discover that almost every single artist I adore has been featured there!
Thanks Liana!

A dress to play in, or be lazy in!

It's a bubble DA DA way, fun and comfortable! Two 'color punch' triangles, one on each side, no true front or back, so it can be worn either way... soft, knit jersey, wrinkle free, so play or be lazy, all the way guilt free...

DA DA News

These days, I've been receiving some very sweet, encouraging emails from fellow Etsians, and I am so thankful. They've been a great push as well, for me to keep busy and not doubtful... Thanks! Not to mention my first two buyers, thanks ladies!
It's been twenty two days of DA DA, with twenty items currently in store, two pink/red ties sold, a few treasury appearances, one dress form destroyed and repaired, a few icky needle encounters... and not a piece of chocolate was harmed in the process (I will have to rethink the latter)...
These are my latest, DA DA Opening Night Dress, and DA DA Jacket.

X Necklace And Bracelets

New at DA DA, X Necklace and two simple bracelets. I love cuffs, but they tend to be too hot for summer, so these should fight the boredom just right. And the necklace is to cure my obsession of versatile... or just a little something to have fun with/in.

New at DA DA

New at DA DA, Fold Top in black and Fold Dress in cream. The Fold Top can be worn two different ways, as there is no real 'front' or 'back.' My personal favorite since I easily get bored with clothes, and always try to turn one thing into another... The Fold Dress is soon to be available in black/gray combo...

Da Da Shop Now Open!

Da Da Shop is now open on Etsy! As of now, I only have a few items listed, however there is so much here at my tiny studio, waiting... Just did not want to list everything in one day, oh the anticipation... But, I am happy, and it feels good to be running a store of my own make again. Thank you everyone, you know who you are, for your support!

Things to Come...

Fresh from Da Da sweatshop, a slice of things to come, silk wrist cuff, currently in pink and red, but I will be cooking with lemon yellow and white as well. So If I'm not writing as much/often as before, it's only because I am working very hard, every day, towards opening of my new Etsy shop....

Tom Scott

Oh, how I love the work of Tom Scott... no, I take that back, I adore the clothes he makes. It's just like that perfect song, seemingly effortless, seemingly in shambles, but just right! I'm happy to see how true to himself he stayed with his F/W 2008 collection. Recently, I revisited a site of one of my favorite designers only to find out that the person whose work I fell in love with had been kidnapped and in their place came an impostor... I don't think that will happen to Tom Scott.

Cody Ross

Priestess
is the label, NY City the place, Cody Ross brave new maker behind it all. Courageous, fresh, with a hint of the eighties (but in a good, smart way), clothes that make sense! Beautiful, and unburdened with unnecessary details, cuts that work! It's as simple as that, and Cody Ross knows it: It's new yet familiar...

Summer Circus

The summer is officially here, and I have started a new job as a studio photographer. Fun and exciting, taking pictures of people, marking moments in days, time that would have otherwise been forgotten...
What better way to celebrate the summer and brave new things in life, than by wearing one of these, my latest: Summer Circus skirt. Have a beautiful summer!

Mustard Ties

For her and him, cotton and silk ties, adorned with stripes and dots screen printed in mustard. I made these a few months ago, thinking of stains and how we react to the phenomenon of stained fabric. Little bits of food on clothing, so unacceptable, when in fact it could be fun to wear a little mustard on your tie... just because you're not supposed to...

Da Da Vest

For a quite some time now, I wanted to make a simple free form vest that would be fun to wear, easy to layer over a dress or tunic, one that would not obstruct... a little something to make one a bit warmer... The gray felt vest came first, but now I'm testing other materials such as cotton, linen, and a few different soft jersey blends.

Hypo.Thesis Publication

Hypo.Thesis, the publication is now available on Lulu press, for purchase or as a free download. I must say I am happy and so grateful to Miss Megan Peck for writing such a wonderful review on my work. What can I say? She got me without ever even meeting with me, or talking to me about my work. It's really good when it happens. This is a small excerpt from the review:
"The venue of clothing, represented in a formal gallery setting as art, allows the audience to consider the presence of art in clothing. Art is too often considered a distant, isolated entity,
and clothing often considered a manufactured, throwaway medium. With her collection, Daniela Cosovic convincingly merges the wearable, utilitarian purpose of clothing with the aesthetic function of its design." Thank you Megan!

Time to play!

I've been away, on a break, a mini vacation down in the Florida Keys, visiting with family, catching up with old friends I haven't seen in so long... School is out for the summer, and with one remaining year of grad school it will be a working few months ahead. Looking around my studio this morning, there is no room left for any new fabric; It's time to play!

Tou

I am so taken by these sweater scarves and scarf hats by Tou! That's right, the elongated sweaters are actually just scarves (not to be worn as sweaters), and the shorter vest looking ones double as unisex scarves that convert into hats. How genius! I've came across Tou via very cool blog called Grijs.

Waiting...

Pattern Magic Volume 2, Japanese Clothes Design Book, is what I'm waiting for, counting hours that is... One day last week my sister Yellena spotted it on Etsy, said I must have it, and she was right! I bought it from a very nice seller Pomadour's Craft Cafe. You can find all sorts of wonderful Japanese craft books there. Enjoy!

Thread

Works like these take my breath away... First two images are from Lisa Solomon. There's a nice interview with her on Crafty Synergy. Second two are from Angy, at Effie Girlie Finerie, encaustic and thread paintings. Angie has an upcoming show in April, in Portland, so check out her blog for more info. And last two images are from Diem Chau, whom I've found via Effie Girlie Finerie. Lately, I've been seeing thread everywhere, which only reminds me how much I have missed working with it.
