Felt invasion

It has been one of those long rainy days in Florida so I've spent a lot of time cruising Etsy, adding beautiful things to my already long wish list.
I've discovered these funky necklaces by 3Fun, both polymer and felt ones are wonderful and would go great with Danca clothes. Of course I want one, or five, if I could only make up my mind. So if you need a splash of color with that little black dress, one of these is just a thing.
The pillows are by Papaver Vert! (pronounced Puh-PAY-ver V-Air), and they as well take my breath away. Especially after checking out the work process this artist uses, these are the real felt deal. For more info go to Papaververt on Etsy.

An interview with Yellena

Yes, there is a brand new interview with Yellena on Etsy today, where you can learn more about the artist and her work. I must say I'm so proud of my sister. Love this big painting she has pinned on the wall of her studio. I was cleaning my own today, and now I can even reach the window behind my cutting table, amazing.

Felt done right

Who would not want one of these, made by la vie en rose, another cool Etsy seller, at only $14.00 per piece? A perfect present, or just keep it for yourself, why not own a cool piece of design, while supporting an independent artist?

Color and shape

Samurai babydoll, Danca, Spring 2007

Waiting, Silkscreen, Danca, Fall 2002

It's funny how things come to be and take this shape of their own, apart from the original intention, or an idea. Like this dress, part of my summer collection and is currently available at my Etsy shop, I see now how it is one of those things that was always in the back of my head, just waiting to come out. The shape, this rectangle, keeps following me around for a while now, invading my prints, as well as the clothing I work on. The color, the new copper of the neck line, and the old copper green of the body, both come from my hometown, Sarajevo, where you can still see these two next to one another, old roofs in the old town, new copper everything sold at the countless little shoppes scattered around Bascarsija, the old old town....

That Dress

This little dress from Urban Outfitters is perfect for the hot hot summer, but I must say I'd love to see it with a pair of funky biker boots, layered over some comfy tights... Either way, I love it, simple yet silly just enough.

My very first post

...what do you do when you're not sure how to start your brand smacking shiny new blog? Go feed your iguana, listen to the birds, water something, look at the trees, and take a good deep breath...
Since building and maintaining an actual website seemed to be such a chore, starting a blog was just a thing to do. I think it's a great way to document my work process, discuss my influences, from the street, people I meet, other designers' work, and try to dive a little deeper into 'why' and 'how' we love and wear the clothes we do...
